Why Greenhouse Strawberries?

  • DelFrescoPure started with a 1-acre strawberry greenhouse as a pilot project and saw overwhelming success. They expanded to another 10 acres with production starting November 2017 for the Ontario marketplace. In 2019, they had another 6-acre expansion and added in high-pressure sodium lights, making them Canada’s largest greenhouse strawberry controlled environment with grow lights.
  • The expansion features innovative technology for growing in all seasons including energy curtains and high-pressure sodium grow lights to provide a controlled microclimate environment for growing strawberries.
  • DelFrescoPure Strawberries are branded under YES!Berries Your Everyday Snack!™ – these strawberries are greenhouse-grown in a controlled micro-climate that allows them to grow a uniform product at a larger harvest yield.
  • The berries grow in long white gutters set at chest height for easy harvesting, their roots fed by nutrient-rich water. They’re also nourished by the sun, and the new greenhouse have special lights that make year-round production possible.
  • DelFrescoPure® uses recycled growing medium and feeds the plants with nutrient-enriched water which helps minimize environmental waste. They use integrated pest management system, which utilizes ladybugs as biological controls, reducing the need for pesticides. They also introduce bumblebees into the greenhouses to pollinate plants and flowers.
